Flat file data sources in e.RD Pro
paul71
Greetings,
This is my very first post in the forums. I am an Actuate newbie, and somewhat of a database newbie, so bear with me. I am using e.Report Design Professional 9 service pack 3 fix 4.
My database consists of flat files; specifically, CSV and TSV. Here is my challenge: take a working report (which is already designed in e.RD Pro) which uses Oracle 9 tables for data sources, and use the flat files as the data sources in place of some of the tables.
My first thought is to use an ODBC connection (i.e., class AcOdbcConnection) and specify a text file data source in some manner; however, I am not in a position to install ODBC drivers on the host. I can, however, continue to utilize the Oracle connection.
I want retain the ability to execute SQL over the data sources; reading the flat file into memory myself and coding the query operations in Actuate Basic is something I would prefer to avoid.
If someone might provide a few suggestions for pointing me in the right direction for solving this problem, I would be very grateful.
Thanks,
paul71
