Embed a report item using a text box

Hi there,

I'm looking to embed a report item stored on my local PC using a text box formatted as HTML. For now, all I need is to view the report either as HTML and/or in web viewer. I got as far as <$tag src="xxxx">. The trouble is I do not know where to store the report items (png images for now) or how to create a relative url to their location.

I've tried
src="file:///..."
src="http://localhost/..."
src="report-viewer/filename_image?=..."

Any many combinations of the above, none of which seem to work. I don't mind where on my harddrive or eclipse workspace the files are stored so long as BIRT can find them. Any ideas? I'm using BIRT 2.3.1.

If it's an image, why not just use an image element to bring in the image?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the speedy response. I'm looking to embed my own swf files in the reports in the near future. As far as I know BIRT 2.3.1 does not support flash files in the library, that is why I'm testing it with images (for now).

I embedded an image in a text box with:

<img src="imageName.gif"></img>

The image was just in my resource folder, which is my workspace.
