Content Expiry
sunil_j
Hi,
I wish to know the how does content expiry works in TeamSite?
I have setup a Metadata field "Expiry Date" using the Set Metadata on certain HTML files and then used OpenDeploy to deploy these files onto the production Server. I wish to know how can I make use of this Expiry Date information and whether it is possible to physically remove the file from the production on the specified Expiry Date. If yes, how to achieve this .. are there any scripts available.. do these scrips need to receide on the production server, how will these scrips get executed ?
Any suggestions to these are most welcome..

Currently OD only lets you delete files on a target when they are missing from the source (if you specify the "do delete" option.) Otherwise, you'd have to employ some kind of trick via DNRs. For example, have a pre-deploy DNR determine a list of files that are expired, deploy the list, and then execute a DNR on the target side to purge the expired files.
There is an open feature request (#31824) for metadata-based deployments which would include the ability specify a query that returns a list of expired content to delete from the target.

If you set the source area to an empty directory (for instance create an empty folder in the temp directory) and pass a file list to opendeploy, and those files don't exist in that empty directory, shouldn't it delete them?

Yup, that should do it.
