Drill-through working from Eclpse but fails in BIRT Viewer

Greetings,

I am using BIRT 3.2.1 and I am having some difficulty with drill-through.
Drill-through seems to be working fine from Eclipse but fails when I deploy the .rptdesign file to the BIRT Viewer (running on Tomcat 5.5).

Details:
In MyRpt.rptdesign, on a table column Label (named "Customer") I created a Properties->Hyperlink->Link To->Drill-though
In "Step 1" of the "Hyperlink Options" (form) I selected "Report Design:" MyRpt.rptdesign
Under "Report Parameters" I pass: Parameters = SortOrder Values = "Customer"
For Step 2 and 3 - I enter nothing
For Step 4 - I selected (radio button) "Same Frame"

From Eclipse:
MyRpt.rptdesign launches successfully and clicking the "Customer" label successfully launches the report passing parameter: SortOrder = Customer.

In the BIRT Viewer (running under Tomcat):
MyRpt.rptdesign launches successfully but clicking the "Customer" label generates the following error:
"The report file :

\apps\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\Customer_Dashboard\MyRpt.rptdesign does not exist or contains errors".

I have tried setting a target bookmark (in step 2 above) and also setting web.xml BIRT_VIEWER_WORKING_FOLDER and WORKING_FOLDER_ACCESS_ONLY = false

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Tom,

I'm guessing it's the path to the report in your hyperlink that is wrong because when you deploy them, they're in the "report" folder. You may have to go into the design and change the hyperlink file path. Setting up your design workspace have the same setup as your deployment setup can help with this. Look into that and let me know if it fixes your issue.

I believe the default root folder for your relative path is the WebViewerExample folder or whatever you renamed it, unless you changed your resource folder in the web.xml. So, you could try putting your .rptDesign in there with the test.rptdesign file and see if it works from there.

As a workaround, I able to get the desired behavior by using "Properties->Hyperlink->Link to->Select Hyperlink Type->URI" (instead of using "Properties->Hyperlink->Link to->Select Hyperlink Type->Drill-through)" 
 
The "Hyperlink Options" (form) does not perform user input validation for the specified "Location" when using Select Hyperlink Type->URI (like the "Drill-through" option does) 
 
So URI allows you to specify whatever you like. Thus I was able to specify the following (which worked): 
 
"../run?__report=Report/MyRpt.rptdesign" + "&SortOrder=Customer" + "&SortDirection=" + ( ( params["SortDirection"].value == null || params["SortDirection"].value == "asc" ) ? "desc" : "asc" ); 
 
Comment: The idea (above) is to toggle sort direction between "asc" and "desc" each time the user clicks the "Customer" label link on the table column (to reverse the previous sort). The key point is I was able to specify the "Report" subfolder in the URI (above). 
 
Michael, you are correct the "BIRT Viewer" has a folder called "Report" containing all our rptDesign files being served up. So the trick was to specify this subfolder (which was different than my eclipse environment) 
By using URI "../run?__report=Report/MyRpt.rptdesign" the target report from the link was found and clicking the link successfully re-launched the report 
 
The above was the workaround I ended up using. 
 
 
However, in the interest to find a solution to the original problem (i.e. "Properties->Hyperlink->Link to->Select Hyperlink Type->Drill-through" I performed the following steps: 
 
1) In the eclipse development environment, in the folder where MyRpt.rptdesign resides, I created a new subfolder called "Report" 
2) I made of copy of MyRpt.rptdesign to the "Report" subfolder 
3) So now I have two copies: one that I am currently editing in eclipse: ./MyRpt.rptdesign and another in /Report/MyRpt.rptdesign 
4) Select "Properties->Hyperlink->Link to->Select Hyperlink Type->Drill-through" 
5) In "Step 1" of the "Hyperlink Options" (form) you can now use the file select button to choose "Report/MyRpt.design" 
 
Note: In Step 1 if you try to specify a "Report Design:" of "Report/MyRpt.design" without first making a "Report" subfolder and making a copy of the rptdesign you will receive an error - "Invalid report design". This will grey out the [OK] (button). So the above allows you to trick the UI so you can deploy to the BIRT view "Report" folder. 
6) Complete remaining steps in the "Hyperlink Options" form
