BIRT Viewer in a Cluster environment

Hi All,

We are using eclipse BIRT 2.3.2 for our reporting web applications. it is a spring web application integrated with BIRT viewer servlet.

We are facing issues running the report in clustered environment. Our clustered environment sits behind a reverse proxy and load balancer hardware.

The <BASE href=""> url points to the actual node in the cluster where the BIRT application is installed instead of point to reverse proxy URL.

As this node is not directly accessible, it gives issues in rendering the report.

There is a setting in viewer.properites for base URL.

# configurable variable for JSP base href. Please uncomment the below line.
#base_url=http://127.0.0.1:8080

what needs to be configured here when we have a clustered environment. what about the other URLs generated by viewer servlet html output?

Also we store the rptdesign files in file system. Is this recommended when we have the application running in clustered environment? if not, what other approaches we can follow?

As for issue one. Is your issue similar to:

I would assume you could set the base href to reverse proxy.

On issue two. You can always use a url for the report design. So create one webapp with all your designs and then use a url in the __report parameter. If you are using 2.6.2 you will need to look at a web.xml setting to do this. Look at the URL Security Bug in this post:
