Chart Visualisation
Arne79
Hi,
i have a problem with the visualization of a dataset in a chart. I have to show information about the
inability of a system. For example there were inabilities on one day from 9 to 10 and 12 to 14 and these
informations are in an dataset. Is there a possibility in Birt in form of chart to show these timelines
per day?

How would you want a chart to look like in this instance? To show a line for a day and hide the line during the times of "inability"? Or show lines that span the time of "inability"? Or show bars at the hour? Let me know.

Hi,
because of inability should not appear very often i think it is better to show the inability in the chart.
Perhaps on the y-axis only the days of a month where inability appears. The measurement of availability is executing every day in a time window from 7 to 20 so i would put these hours on the x-axis. Is it possible in that way to show for example that the system was not available from 8 to 9 and 13 to 15.

I think you should be able to use a scatter plot and connect the consecutive hours that have inability, but not the others. If your data only shows the hours of inability, you'll possibly need to add the other hours with a scripted dataSet or flat file dataSet to make it work. If you let me know your BIRT version and show me what your data looks like, I can try to make a simple example.
