Drill-through
Kishore198
Hi all,
My knowledge level is pretty low on the BIRT. Please help me on the following
iam having a master table and 5 detail db table. In the master table i am having a type column to identify the type of the detail.
The same thing is to be generated as a report.
I could generate a report based on the master data.
now i need a link on the table rows on click of which a detail report should be opened.
I could see that through the drill-trough i can give 1 report.
Please let me know as to how to design a condition based drill-through.

You set up a drill through in the hyperlink section of the property editor. From there, you call a report and pass whatever value through to the report through its parameters that you'd like. In the new report, you'd treat the parameters just as you would any other parameter by using them in your query in filters, etc. If this doesn't fully answer your question, please explain your issue in more detail and I'll try again.

thanks for the reply.
I have 5 different types of detail reports. Based on the data of the selected row, i need to open different reports.
Suppose if the in the main report i show all the types of products(TV,CD player etc) sold during the period.
Then on click of the hyperlink if the type of the product is TV i need to open report relating to TV, if type is CD player than CD player report is to be opened.(The report format for TV & CD are different)

You could use the "URI" hyperlink option and build your hyperlink based on the value of the selected field to link to the appropriate report. Or, you could build a "Master Detail" report that has all of the different detail tables set up for all product types. Then, based on the parameter passed through, CD player, tv, etc..you could drop the unneeded elements from the report in the beforeFactory method.
Hope one of these options works for you.
