combo box parameter

does any one know why birt always seem to give you an extra text box, when you have implemented a combox parameter, please see the pdf attachment, as I cannot post it on the website, but basically the there is nothing wrong with the combo box, but under neath it is a text box, which i did not implement, but always seems to be there,, please see attachment

Hi, this is to enable the users to supply string pattern of their choice. Eg, to search for something that starts with A, users can enter A%.

That is what a combobox is: you can select a value from a list, or enter whatever value that is not in the list.
I you want only values from the list to be selected, you can change the parameter display type to List Box.

Seem to got confused with combo/list box, have change the parameter to list box and the extra box has disappeared, cant believe it was that simple

just one other question, does BIRT enable me to place a list box in a dynamic element to filter a report
