how to set the datetime parameter default value = 11:59:59 pm

my report has a report parameter with datetime datatype, I want to set its default time to 11:59:59 pm without specifiy the date, is this possible?
Also, when I import the report to Tivoli Common Reporting, I found the datetime parameter field is split to two component, one for date input and another for time input, will this affect the default tiime setting?
My birt designer version is 2.2.1

when the datetime field imported into tivoli common reporting, it shown as 2 component, one is a calendar for input date and another is a clock icon to input time, if the user just click the calendar icon to input the date without specify the time, the application will assume the date is in 12:00:00 am, but I want if the user input a date only, the time is default to 11:59:59 pm, and I also want the user can see this default value, otherwise, user will not known when he just input the date part, the time will default to 11:59:59 pm.

It's probably going to have to be something modified in the calendar picker to automatically set the time to 11:59:59, cause even if you set the default date's time to that, as soon as they pick a date, the value that the date picker assigns to the time will override the 11:59:59, so you'll probably have to start there. It won't show the time at 11:59:59, in the window, but you could check the parameter value in your beforeOpen script of your dataSet that uses the parameter if the value is 12:00:00am. If so, you could change the value in script to be 11:59:59, but this might not be a possibility for you.

I have the same requirement as tong mentioned. How can I see the clock icon in the parameter screen?
My requirement is I have to show the date and time(with default 07:00 AM) in the report. Birt version that I am currently using is 2.3.0. Please help me on this!!

Are you just wanting the time to be defaulted to 7:00 or do you want to have a time picker clock? I've seen it with a calendar, but not with a clock. Do you have a plugin for this? Or is the default time the important part? Let me know.

My requirement is to show the current date and the time should be defaulted to 07:00AM in the parameter screen. 
If I select the type of parameter to 'Date', then i am getting the Date Picker in parameter screen and current date is displayed by default. But if I select type of parameter as 'Date Time', probably I should get current date and time by default in parameter screen. But I am not able to see any data on the parameter screen. 
My requirement is show the date and the time as 7:00AM on the parameter screen. Eg: 10/14/2011 07:00 
Please help me on this.

Currently I am not able to default the time to 7:00 or show the current time. My requirement is to retrieve the records that are between the dates and time. For Eg:- Between 10/24/2011 07:00:00 and 10/25/2011 22:30:50 
In parameter screen, I have to show 'DateFrom' parameter as current date and default time as 07:00:00 and 'DateTo' parameter as current date and time. User should be able to modify those dates and times. I am using date and time as two seperate parameters. 
Please let me know if you want me to share anything more.

Here's a report that uses a scripted dataSet to create default selections for today at 7 and today with right now's time. The defaults are on one radio button and if the user wants to enter their own time, they just select the text box radio button and enter a time. With 2.3.0, expressions for default values were not available. If you were to upgrade to a newer version that has expressions, this could look cleaner. Another option could be to create your own parameter page using the tag library. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions.

You can set up a parameter default datetime like this:
BirtDateTime.addSecond(BirtDateTime.today(), 86399)
This yeilds the current date with time of 11:59:59 PM.

You can set any time to the second this way. Just do so math to figure out what second of the day equates to the time you want.

Back in the day, the default value was only a static value, not able to hold an expression. Your solution would work in newer versions, but not in the version asked about in this thread.
