Creating New Report in BIRT
devil786
Hi,
This is my first post on this forum. I am just trying to create a report in BIRT using the following steps:
1) Under File Menu, Select New and then click new Report and then click Finish
2) In the second step under data menu select new data menu and then select IBM Tivoli Data Query Web Service and then enter the credentials etc for the new data source.
3) In the 3rd step i created a new data set and then finish. the data set shows all the query groups available under the ITM but when i click on output columns it displays the following error, please check the attachment. Any help/guidance will be appreciated.

Can you click on "details" and show what it says?

From your log file, it seems that you're getting a null pointer exception as well. Are you able to access the webservice values outside of BIRT with the same access values you're using? My first idea would be that there's a problem with your web service query.

Hi Micheal,
I am accessing the values/data using the same web service (without any problem) which i am using in BIRT designer. The problem only face when using BIRT reporter.

Can you run this web service example from BIRT?

Ok i have downloaded the amazon_ws.rptdesign, and opened it in BIRT designer, now what to do? I mean what are the steps to configure the connection etc as i have not find any on the link that you have sent to me.

Inside the AccessKeyID parameter, you'll see where you need to go get your access key ID from and then you should be able to test the design to make sure you're not having issues accessing the webservice. Can you give me access to your webservice so I can try to link to it?

Hi Micheal,
Thank for your reply. Actually the webservice is a IBM Tivoli monitoring service and those server are on our private network, having no internet connectivity. therefore it will not be possible. You can also send me the steps.
