Get used columns in fetch-event
Lea
Hi there,
is there any chance to find out (within the fetch-event) which columns of a dataset are used in the report?
To explain it a bit more:
Within our fetch-event we retrieve the data from a server. Some of the data might take a long time to get it. I want to avoid loading them, when they are not even used within the report.
Do I have a chance?
Thanks,
Lea

Hi Lea,
You can switch to the xml source of the design and search for the data set columns that are being used. Typically the format is row[colname] or dataSetRow[colname]

OK, depending on the size of the designfile or used columns, this might take a while. But at least this is a solution I can work with. Thanks!

You can write a quick perl script to parse out all the tokens from the design file to automate this. The rptdesign file is essentially a text file (XML format).
