JavaScript Alert In Filter Window

Hi,
I want to validate some field in the filter window. Say for example one field is amount. And if user enter some alphabets then i want to alert with proper message. This i want to do with birt as we normaly do in javascript client side validation. Can anyone have some idea how to do so.
