Search option in BIRT
princeabd
Hi,
We want one BIRT Report with following steps.
1. Search box - User will type first 3 or 4 letters of employee name. Based on that it will execute the query ( select firstname from enterpriseuser where firstname like '%&fn%') and should display the records with hyperlink.
2. if the user click the hyperlink on particular employeename then it will execute the query and should display the project details.
Please let me know whether is it possible and the workflow in BIRT and Eclipse.

It will probably take a lot of javascript to do this. You might be able to find something out there on the web where this has already been done that you can download.

Can you paste here your design report, i mean where you want search box and script. As i think filter option is there in birt and you can provide your criteria in the filter window then your task can be completed by putting small javascript like
beforOpen script
if(params["paramFirstName").value !=null ){
this.queryText=" and firstNameColumn like '"+params["paramFirstName").value+"'";
}
Note : Here i assume that where caluse is already present in your report query
