1. Adding Adhoc parameters and 2. Unable to delete resources (JAR files and Java scripts)

Hi

Am currently struck with two issues in designing BIRT reports.

1. How to do we Adhoc parameters to a BIRT report? Like, the values for those parameters will be taken from the user entries at the time of running in the application. We have similar condition for Adhoc condition in Actuate reports.
2. Even before adding the JAR files and Java script files from the Resources folder to the report, those JAR files and scripts are getting added to the report in the properties editor. The problem is i am not able to remove those files. The theory says, first we have to add the resources to a specific location. And then we have to add the properties, JARs and scripts to the report as we need them.
How come the JARs and scripts get added to the report on their own in this case?

Requesting the members to help me out from this challenge !

Adding on to my topic...

I get a pop-up window when i try to remove a JAR file or a Java script file.
When trying to remove a JAR file, i get "The specified structure is not found in the property 'Script libraries" and when i try to remove a Java script file, the pop-up says "The specified structure is not found in the property 'Include scripts'".

Hope this helps to suggest me a solution to come out of the issue.

1 - Can you give some more detail on what you want to do?

2 - Jars/Scripts should not be getting added to the report automatically if they are not in the resources property for the report.

The second problem that came up has been sorted out.
As for the other issue, we used to have queries of the following type in Actuate reports - " select * from <table-name1>, <table-name2>... where x.abc = 't' and y.bc = z.bc and :? pqr", here 'pqr' was referred as an Adhoc condition and its value will be netered by the end-user while the report is being run in the customer side application.

Is there a way to do a similar thing in BIRT?

You can use dataset parameters if it is a simple value say
select * from table where user = ?

If it is more complex than that you need to use a beforeOpen script on the dataset and a report parameter like:
enter
select * from table in the query
Then use a beforeOpen script like:
this.queryText = this.queryText + " where user = "+ params["myreportparam"].value

Does this make sense?

Yes, it does!

For adding report parameters, i used "select * from table where x.abc = ?". It works fine.

For having adhoc parameters, in the 'where' condition, i have given a condition like "select * from table where 1=1 and 2=2" and i have replaced "1=1" and "2=2" with the the parameters as you have suggested through the beforeOpen script.
