Database changes may be reflected in report

Hello all, 
 
I am using oracle 10g database, whenever i do changes in column name, i have to change my dataset and perform the drag and drop of dataset fields to my report. 
i have 240 fields to drag and drop every time if any changes done. :wacko: 
 
so, is there any solution which do automatic changes in dataset as well set in report ?

Hi Sunil,

If you change the dataSet, you can select the binding tab of the table and click the refresh button to add the bindings to the table, but you'd still have to add the elements, so this probably doesn't help your situation. If you made generic binding names and just changed your labels, the elements in the table may accept the new column without you doing anything else because you're replacing the columns with the same generic name. Not totally sure on that though.

I want to try it out using generic binding, but i dont know how to do generic binding.
so, will you please give some links or hints for that ?

Hi Sunil,

You could change the column name in the select, but keep the original column name as an alias, so that there is no need to make any changes in the report.
