manually removing jobs from task list

Is there a way to manually remove jobs from the Task List (or the workflow subsystem for that matter)? Some of our jobs got corrputed and cannot be removed by choosing "Remove Job" from the "Job Options" drop down list - we receive an error :-(

Any help here would be great.
