Conditional Notification
mcremer
I have maybe a strange request or query.
We have the iServer Express 11 running and its doing wonders running and making reports. But now I want a report to notify a user by mail if a certain condition is met.
However you can only set conditional notification on fail or success. Is there a way to make a report instruct the iServer to notify the a end user?

Hi mcremer,
I am not sure if I understood your question. If you are asking about the job status notification, it can only go to users present in the system. You can add email address of the users in user properties and enable email notification in management console.

No Ashwini,<br />

Its has something 2 do with job status notification.<br />
<br />
In the soap massages you can override them.<br />
<br />
But in my situation I have something like this situation:<br />
<br />
Report makes a check up on financial data. Let say that the data is OK no real anomalies were found the report finishes normally.<br />
<br />
Senario 2: The data doesn't add up there is a difference between the data. The Report knows this (by having negative numbers or something (that's created from Agregration and a bit of java/javascript). It now sends a notification as attaching it self to the end user.<br />
<br />
Thats what I am looking for.

Hi mcreamer,
Out-of-the-box BIRT iServer does not support this feature but this would make an excellent enhancement. Please file a request for enhancement here:

Meanwhile you could handle this through JavaScript in your report but it would require the report to be opened and viewed. The other option is to use IDAPI and handle this in an external process. Use IDAPI to download the report (after scheduled job finishes) and then examine the data to send notifications.
