Reusing query results in multiple tables

Is there anyway we can reuse the query results in multiple tables? The equivalent to this in Actuate eReports is Memory Buffers.
The data is same but it will be reported in a different way.
One work around is, create the binding of second table based on the first table. But the issue with that is, we cannot create aggregates / groups on the second table.

Any pointers will be much helpful

In BIRT 2.6 and higher the DataSet should only requery for the second table if the parameter values are not the same or if the table Filters are changed (the filters are added to the where clause).
Essentially, if the final SQL is the same, subsequent tables should use the original result set.
