Limiting field characters

hi everyone,

I was hoping to limit a particular description field to 7ish lines or 500 characters. Is there an easy way to do this? I've looked around some and seem to think that truncating the date is the way to do this but I don't know how to do that either.

You could check the length of the string and then use the substring function to cut off the text at 500 characters. You could do this in the expression of the data binding or you could use a dynamic textbox.
