Hi all,
I want to add security to birt reports , how can i check the current session before showing reports to user

Commercial (Actuate) BIRT has Page and Data level security as a license option. Once enabled the report automatically accesses the iServer user's Access Control List. The ACL is then read by sections of the report to Filter data or hide pages.

One way would be to implement a Java Servlet Filter that does the security checking. The filter has access to the Java ServletRequest. It's doesn't take too much to implement and it allows you "wrap" your reports in a secuirty layer versus adding security code in each report. <br />
<br />
If the user does not have access to the report you can re-direct the request to a "Not Authorized Page", set the HTTP Status Code to 401/403, etc.
