Use same y-axis scale for both axes on the same chart?
paqman
Hey Birt Exchange,
I've created a bar chart with a line chart overlaid (second y-axis). Is there a way to force the y scales to be the same for both series? They are representing related data but it is difficult to comprehend it when they have different scales. I'm guessing a script is the way to go on this one?
Thanks as always

If you create a chart and simply add a second series, you shouldn't get a second y-axis. You have to specifically set that you want two when selecting your chart type. If you don't choose a second axis, in the select data tab, you'd just select "add series" from the y-series drop down to add your second series. Now you'll only have one axis and two series. Hope this helps.

Except Series 1 needs to be a bar chart and Series 2 needs to be a line chart - is there a way to specify a different chart type for each series when they share the same y-axis?

Yes. After you've set up a bar chart and specified both series. In the format tab, under value series or whatever it's called, you'll see drop downs allowing you to choose a chart type next to each series.
