xls output format in open office

Hi,

I have a problem with the output formats of birt reports.
If I open these documents as xls or doc the report opened in open office gives me all styling tags as html output. These Styling Items are only correctly interpreted in Microsoft Office.
Any idea what I have to do to get a nice output in Open Office?

Second question: Can I define the Output encoding of the report within Birt?
