Firefox 5/6 Issue with Report Viewer...
johnfron
There is a bug when using the Report Viewer with Firefox 5/6. After a few hours of debugging I was able to locate the bug. In the iportal/jsapi/actuateAPI.js there is a bug when injecting code into Firefox. I update the updateContent function of the actuate.util.content.HtmlContainer.prototype object to the following:<br />
<br />
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>updateContent: function (content, callback) {
this._processStyleTags(content);
this._pasteContent(content);
var utility = actuate.util.Utility;
/* Firefox 5/6 Fix!!!! */
/* if (!utility.isBrowser(utility.BROWSER_MOZILLA, utility.BROWSER_FIREFOX)) { */
this._htmlUtility.executeInlineScripts(this._container)
/* } */
if (callback) {
this._window.setTimeout(callback, 1)
}
},
</pre>
It appears that the newer versions of Firefox now require a manual execution of inline scripts...<br />
<br />
Hope this helps someone in the future that is faced with this problem!

Hi johnfron,
Thanks for your investigation. Please note that Firefox 5 is not yet supported in the current release of BIRT Viewer (version 11 sp1). There is a new release around the corner (version 11 sp2) that will start supporting Firefox 5, please stay tuned.

Hi BIRT,<br />
As of today, the latest version of FireFox release is v9.<br />
But BIRT v11sp2 still supports only upto FireFox5<br />
BIRT is deifinetly behind the show.<br />
<br />
What are your plans to catch up with FireFox?<br />
<br />
Can you please point me to other supported browsers for BIRT v11sp2<br />
<br />
Thanks,<br />
Prasad

Hi Prasad,
Firefox is on a rapid release cycle where is comes out with a new release every 6 weeks. Actuate's release cycle is not that frequent and it makes every effort to support the browser version that is in production at the time of its release. It supports Firefox version 7 in the latest release (11 sp3) and I am sure it will catch up with more recent releases in the upcoming releases. Here is the link to technical specs where you can find information on other browser supported:
