BIRT Web Viewer with Tomcat Styles CSS

Hi,

Is it possible to change the look and feel of BIRT web viewer within Tomcat?

I've tried changing the style.css file in my C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\webcontent\birt\styles folder but it does not have any effect.

Within IE Devloper tools it references http://localhost/birt-web-viewer/birt/styles/style.css within the html but the only style.css file is located in the above folder.

That is the proper style sheet. What are you trying to change?

Was thinking about changing the styles but modifying that style sheet does not seem to change anything. For example, changing the style of #pageNumber to font-size: 20pt

Even renaming the style sheet to xstyle.css still has the same styles.

I do not see that style in the style.css. You can create styles in the report and apply them to a page number. If you change sizes in style.css for things like the parameter entry screen, you should see these show up.

Hi Jason,

I've attached a screen shot of the parameter entry screen. It references the style.css.

The "Showing page 1 of " is contained in the header part of the html body. The 1 has an id of pageNumber so I thought it would be possible to edit the style.css and add the #pageNumber css style to change the style. I did try changing the toolbar background color initially but this did not take effect either.

With the new style #pageNumber added to style.css and restarting Tomcat and looking at the report again, the styles are not applied. If I look at the actual style.css file the web page html is linked to, using IE Developer Tools, it does not contain #pageNumber.

The screenshot is what I have modified with IE developer tools on the fly.

Any thoughts?

I have copied: 
 
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\webcontent\birt 
to 
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\birt 
 
Now the styles I have edited are appearing - it works. 
 
However if I delete the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\birt folder, restart Tomcat, the BIRT web viewer is showing the same styles I have modified. So there appears to be some caching going on. The screenshot is attached. 
 
Broke Again 
 
Now when I change the style in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\birt\style.css, the changes are not picked up. Even restarted Tomcat. I cannot see anything been cached using Agent Ransack, Process Monitor tools. 
 
I just wanted to work out in my head what is going on with it now - I am confused.

OK, 
 
Think I have sussed what is going on/happened. 
 
Step 1 
 
The first styles we modified where in the file: 
...\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\webcontent\birt\styles\style.css 
 
When the web viewer was ran, the styles were not picked up. 
 
Step 2 
 
Next we copied the folder: 
...\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\webcontent\birt 
to 
...\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\birt 
 
The styles were changed in rendered reports when they were ran via BIRT Web Viewer. 
 
Step 3 
 
Next we changed the styles in: 
...\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\birt\styles\style.css 
 
This did not have any effect. 
 
Step 4 
 
We modified the file: 
...\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\birt-web-viewer\webcontent\birt\styles\style.css 
 
Now the styles are changed in the rendered html in BIRT Web Viewer in the browser. 
 
 
 
NOTE: Tomcat folder located under C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\

Did you apply the style in the NavigationbarFragment.jsp?

I have not modified anything except for the style.css.

I added the new style to that file and modified some of the others.
