Birt parameter based on the container

Can the birt parameter come from a container like from a table?
I want to filter the table data in the page and don't filter in the query.It is better to add a select list in the page.Is it using Text with javascript to do that?

You cant set a params["paraname "].value. What you can do is fill a vars["global var"] )Variables.<br />

Then you could in theory use before open to change your query.
