That depends on how the tiltle was placed in the first place...
Take a look at
http://help.eclipse.org/indigo/topic/org.eclipse.birt.doc/birt/gs-TutT8CreateAReportTitle.html#161325
There are several ways of placing a title...

For report title property i mean :<br />
<br />
<a class='bbc_url' href='

src='

alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /></a>

In org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.api take a look at IReportRunnable - one of the fields is TITLE.

ok, thanks.<br />
<br />
that is a constant field that returns the string "title", so using this constant value in the get property i can get the report title : <br />
<br />
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>String title = (String)design.getProperty(IReportRunnable.TITLE)</pre>
<br />
Thank you again

Do you now also how to get a value of a label placed in the master page ?
Susana
I do that for grids; if you know the label's identifying name, it should work for you too:
ReportDesignHandle reportDesign = session.openDesign(thisDesignFile);
...
GridHandle grid0 = (GridHandle) reportDesign.findElement("New grid 0");
