Any way to stack by y-series groupings?

I feel like the answer will be 'no' but want to double check before I change my whole report design

I currently have 2 series, one for 'Type A' values and one for 'Type B'. Based on user input, there can be between 1 and 8 groupings in the report (each grouping having a Type A and Type B value). The x-axis groups all of this together by month, and the chart has the optional y-axis grouping set to the grouping numbers:

As I was reading your post, I was thinking that you'd have to do the series for each grouping. Then I read it at the bottom as what your likely conclusion was. I think I agree that this is the way you'll have to do it. You could always request an enhancement for charts to be able to stack optional groupings at http://www.birt-exchange.org/org/resources/bug-reporting/

I've made good progress on this - I have created 8 series and am using Javascript to do custom filtering in the Value field for each series:

One question: how can I access the 'Optional Y Series Grouping' titles in javascript? My chart ends up being rendered like this:

Try something like this to actually change the series identifier:

This will change the legend in the label. The code above will change them to My Series 1, My Series 2, etc... You'll just have to replace that with your way to name them what you want.
