BIRT Triggers TOC marks in Word

We use BIRT reports in Word documents to build medical records. In Office 2003 the BIRT report grouping triggers the TOC markers (hidden text) to display. I can't turn it off. We have some agencies that can't upgrade to 2007 or 2010 - HELP!

Edit the group in the group editor and remove the Item Expression from the Table of Contents section.
