extending - popup menu

Hi

what i'm trying to do is extending Birt by adding a popup menu entry in the outline view or even better in the data explorer view. I need the new context menu to be available for data set nodes, is there a way to use the old popupMenus extension for this, do I have to use something else, anything that might work?

Thing is that we had to add a custom ODA data source which works ok but as the data sets supports parameters and we have the option to retrieve those from meta-data it will be great if we could add a context menu for data set so all data set parameters to be copied and linked to corresponding report level parameters.

We have sometimes more than 50 parameters defined for a data set, while we can get those from metadata when the data set is defined we do have to move them one by one as report parameters and then link the data set parameter to the report one... not very user friendly

Any suggestion is more than welcome.

i would think a button on the data set parameters tab to link all report parameters would be a useful feature indeed.

In the meantime I've found the menu id registered by the data explorer and added a new contribution to it in the ODA UI plug-in so this is less of an issue for me (for my custom ODA) but still will be nice to have it added to the core Birt (JDBC with stored procedures could also benefit from it).

Actually, re-reading your initial post, what I was describing as an improvement is not really what you want. You have the data set with its parameters, and want to bring them back at the report parameter level, while I was describing the opposite of defining your parameters at report level then copying/linking them to the dataset, but I guess both could make sense.

I'm glad you found a way around your problem for the time being,
