Report Got Re-imported by MAXADMIN automatically...
vijay_kota
Hi All,
We have developed some reports in BIRT 2.3.2. Deployed in Maximo.
The version Details of Maximo as follows.
Scheduler 7.1.1.0 Build 20100219-1725 DB Build V7110-33
Oil And Gas 7.1.1.0 Build 20091211-0646 DB Build V7120-16
Common PMP 7.1.1.7 Build 201006041645 DB Build V7117-02
Base Services 7.1.1.7-LA20110131-1130 Build 20100522-0325 DB Build V7117-47 HFDB Build HF7117-20
Server OS Windows Server 2003 5.2 build 3790 Service Pack 2.
The problem we are facing now is Report is getting Re-imported as and when the application server of the Maximo is restarted.
The .rptdesign imported by maxadmin during the process is the old .rptdesign not the updated one.
The Maximo is running on Cluster Environment.
We are not able to debug the root cause.
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks and Regards,
Vijay Kumar

You don't say if you are using a Websphere or Weblogic server.
On Websphere I sometimes see entries in the system logs that the reports are being imported.

It may be importing copies of the report from the EAR file.

Try updating the copies in the EAR file and see if that delivers the latest version.

Hi robbinma,
We are using websphere.
When exactly this happens...??
i believe the .rptdesign's are stored in database and not in physical location of the server..
how come these reports are passed into .ear files...??
you said updating the copies in the ear, how can i do it...??
thanks ,
Vijay Kumar

Hi Vijay,

By default Maximo installs a copy of the out of the box reports in a folder on the build server.
I think the report files are in
\<install folder>\maximo\reports\birt\reports

these are then compiled into the ear file.
the ear file is just a zip file so you can check out my theory by renaming the files to .zip and then extract them.
.war files are also zip files.

The maximo server process imports the reports when it starts. I'm not sure if it imports them every time or if there is some indicator to force an import.

If you have updated an out of the box reports then you could be hit by this.
So you should try updating the reports on the build server.

I try and encourage my team mates to put a copy of any new/modified reports on the build server, that way if we have a disaster situation we can just redeploy the EAR file and the latest versions are available

Hi robbinma,
Looks that was the exact reason why the reports are getting re-imported.
Thank you very much for your inputs.
We are no more getting those issues..
