How to default date parameter automatically to last/first day in current month?

Users request a report with "DateFrom" and "DateTo" Parameters which default to the appropriate first or last day in the current month automatically.

a) The first date of the current month e.g. 01/09/11 in the current month of Sept 11
The last date of the current month e.g. 30/09/11 in the current month of Sept11

I have no desire to reset the default parameters manually each month and want the dates to move automatically and cope with the fact that different months have different final datese.g. 28/2/12, 31/12/11.

Have you a formulae to use in Expression Builder (JavaScript)?

Well first of my solution im giving you is one of Many Im more Java orentated so I "abuse" the fact that the Mozilla <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.mozilla.org/rhino/'>rhino engine</a> is available. Making it posible to work a bit more direct if you know what I mean.<br />

Just a note down of the impororts:<br />

nl_NL is the Locale because US formatting and European formatting of dates is different I prefer to set this because I don't know what the Java engine is running on (its the operating systems region ofthen).<br />
<br />
Cal is the Calander object.<br />
<br />
and dfd is a formating method so you get a string. We use for parameters always strings becouse its easyer to parse to query's.<br />
<br />
You can scip the date foramatting if you use a Date object BIRT understands a Date Object.
