Any luck with Powerpoint 2010?
paqman
Has anyone had any luck creating a ppt file from Birt that could be opened by Powerpoint 2010? Powerpoint 2007 opened the ppt file without issues, but 2010 says 'Powerpoint can't read [filename]' without any real error information.
Thanks Folks

Has this been solved or pursued any further? Has anyone got any specifics on why it is not working? After all, it might be just a very small thing, like some formatting detail of the Office XML output. Would it make sense to get in touch with Microsoft on this? If this can't be solved I would be forced to use the Tribix PPT emitter. I'm working on a webapp using the BIRT runtime 3.7.0.
There is also the following bug report. If the repliers are not mistaken, it is the specific way a report is generated that causes the problems:

It would be great if anyone could share their thoughts on this.

I haven't heard anything - thanks for posting the link for that additional bug though.

Not very helpful for users stuck using BIRT version 2.6.x, but we have found that in version 3.7 the open office version of the powerpoint file can be opened by Powerpoint 2010 without errors (the regular powerpoint file still produces the error however).
So it's not ideal, but at least it is a partial workaround for now.
