Error with Computed Column

I am currently trying to build a computed column that computes the difference in seconds between two date-time values. The catch is that one of the two values can be null. It is a String-type computed column and here is the code that I am using:

if(row["time2"].value == null)
return "";
else
return BirtDateTime.diffSeconds(row["time2"],row["time1"]);

The error I get is very generic stating that the javascript expression is invalid.

Any help would be appreciated

It looks ok at first glance. Try it without the "return". If that doesn't work, can you post the error you get?

check out the following report created with birt 2.5.1, it uses the sample database to calculate the difference in seconds between the order date and shipped date. Not very realistic, but it allowed me to test and correct your script a little

Thanks! That fixed the issue... not quite sure why the "return" 's and the semicolons caused the issue, but thanks!
