Dynamic report design by the End User

Hi,

Kindly let me know, whether the end user can design the report with change of columns,view and data and have dynamically chart designs from the application using the open source BIRT designer.

If it can be done, let me know the sites for reference.

if its is paid version let us know the sites and the name of the viewer.

The only thing I know of that could do what your refering to is the payed version of iServer with the Studio license. The open source does not have sutch features. Only Interactivety (but thats just sort and higlicht).

In the past, I have written my own viewer to add these features into the open source version using GWT and the open source version Design Engine API.

Hi,

Is there any possible to put the query in the report from the application side in run time from the end user and save the report with that query.

So if the report is read from other application, the query should be retrieved from the report template.

In short the query should be saved in the template given by the end user in run time.

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Yes. You can write out report designs using BIRTS Design Engine API. You would have your application use the Design Engine API to write out a BIRT report template with that query. You can also do it where it writes to a library, and the reports just consume the library.
