Can not setup BIRT report for web

I have installed BIRT reports and Run Time.

when viewing URL http://localhost:1977/birt-viewer/index.jsp It says some think like following. I think i am missing some thing, but what is that ?!!!

BIRT viewer has been installed.

but when clicking View example(link ) it gives 404 error.

How did you deploy the viewer? Did you copy the WebViewerExample directory to the webapps directory of tomcat?

That was exactly mistake i was doing. I had copied that folder to ROOT folder. just copied to right location, now it works fine.

I need any good online guide or good to learn about how to develop these types of reports using BIRT ?
second is some sort of security mechanism in BIRT, like no can should be able to view reports unless logged in ?

Hi whmemon,

i suggest to have a look at the devshare. There are some (at least one) good item of how to get started with BIRT. Nevertheless i think that all the articles and online stuff currently available can't replace a good book to learn it the right way from scratch.
One of the best BIRT books is:
BIRT a field guide to reporting. It teaches you everything to develop these kinds of reports and even more. (if you plan to buy this book, pay attention that you buy the latest revision)

Concerning security:
The BIRT Webviewer is just a sample application of how BIRT can be integrated into a web application. It doesn't have any security mechanisms. Webservers normally support security on application or folder level, in a way that you can define which users are able to access the BIRT Webviewer application. If you are familiar with Java webdevelopment i would suggest to download the source code of the web application and to add security yourself.
