Data Cubes in BIRT

Is it possible to create Cognos like Cubes in BIRT? I need to create a data cube whose dimensions can be modified by the user at run time.
I can see that Data Analyzer tool is something similar. Can someone provide some detailed explanations on how to do this ?

You can add that type of functionality with the Actuate extensions to BIRT. Take a look at the following page for more information:

Make sure you follow the links on the page for both the BIRT Data Objects and the BIRT Data Analyzer. The BIRT Data Objects will contain the cube definitions and are used by the BIRT Data Analyzer (standalone or within a BIRT Report) to change dimensions and measures dynamically in the browser without any additional software or plug-ins.

BIRT Data Objects are created in the Actuate BIRT Report Designer Professional and are accessed from the Actuate BIRT iServer. You can download trial versions of each of these packages here:
