Adding & Merging rows, and modifying data after it retrieved

Hi.
I need to perform a transformation on a dataset result: iterate over rows, while maintaining some state. Then, based on that state:
a) modify content on some rows,

add rows,
c) remove rows,

Columns remain unchanged.

Can this be done? Would that be in dataset.onFetch? Would appreciate an example, as so far my toying with didn't produce any modifications.

A dataSet filter and computed column could solve 1 & 3. When would you be adding a row? To replace removed ones? If so, then the computed column would work for 1 & 2 and 3 could be done by a filter still if you needed to remove others still.

Another option could be to store your values into an array or arrays and use these arrays to create a scripted dataSet where you could modify the data however you'd like.

I'm not sure though how those features can maintain state. All transformations I wish to perform are the triggered by data appearing in preceding rows (and not rows immediately preceding the ones to undergo transformation). Can computed columns/dataset filters maintain variables while the dataset is iterated?

Can you explain more about your data and the transformations it will need to go through? That might help.

As far as keeping a variable, yes, you can create variables in your initialize or beforeOpen scripts and use these within your computed column. You can set it to a new value in your column expression when you need to. Or, if you have dynamic groupings that you need to track, you can use persistent global variables so you can name the variable based on another field in your dataSet, so that you can recall this variable when appropriate.

If you need to inject rows into your result set, you'll can probably do so in your query if doing a query type dataSet. If not, you'd have to create a separate dataSet to join with your current one to add the rows or take the data from your first dataSet and make a scripted dataSet to add the extra rows.
