You could use the tag library to pull in specific elements from a report to your dashboard. You could also use the isreportlet URL parameter to call only a specific bookmarked element from a report to your dashboard.
Hope this helps.

Hi,<br />
<br />
I mean designing the dashboard in report design. If it is possible, kindly provide a reference or steps to implement it.

A dashboard is just a report (or set of reports) formatted as HTML.<br />
<br />
There is nothing out of the box in the open source BIRT to handle the display of multiple reports in an end-user configurable HTML dashboard, but it wouldn't be particularly difficult to write such a front end (I've used <a class='bbc_url' href='
http://connect.gxsoftware.com/dashboardplugin/demo/dashboard.html'>http://connect.gxsoftware.com/dashboardplugin/demo/dashboard.html</a>
; for something similar).<br />
<br />
If you only want your dashboard to be configurable by support staff then you can simply create a single report and render it as HTML.

Hi William,<br />
<br />
Do you have any working sample on this. If so please share it.<br />

As another post has stated, a Dashboard is really just a report or series of reports, normally looking at an operational database. We have created a Dashboard for our application and have designed alerts using an XML datasource to control certain behavior like turning a field red or yellow based on the database values.
It would be nice if the open source version of BIRT had more widgets for Dashboard reports like commercial offerings. It would also be great if there was native alert functionality but i guess you get what you pay for! -- len

You can always request enhancements in the bugzilla and see what they say!
