Embedded Custom Parameters on Report?

Has anyone got an example or ever created a BIRT report with custom parameters, OTHER than the default birt viewer parameter box? We would like to have some searchable values at the top of reports, and have the report filter or refresh as the user selects/enters new values.
See attachment for example - where the parameter values are changed right on the dashboard...

Hi berzerkley,
If you are creating a web application you could probably use BIRT tag library:
http://eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/viewerUsageMain.php#tags

For a desktop application, you may want to consider using runtime api's:
http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/reportEngineAPI.php

You will find some example of its usage in the above links as well. I am moving this forum to appropriate forum to solicit more responses.
