Can't get simplified Chinese rendered in PDF

Hi.
The attached report is displayed correctly in preview, yet a generated pdf is missing a character. Any ideas? I suspect the required font isn't installed on host, but don't know how to correlate the expected font with an installable package (ubuntu 10.04)

I'd be happy with having the same font used for HTML/DOC to-be used for PDF rendering.

Related: during attempts to modify fontsConfigXXX.xml, it seemed to me that BIRT designer under eclipse doesn't re-read those files when rendering. What would then be a recommended workflow for modifying those files and have BIRT pick-up the modifications?
