Access BIRT reports externally

I am currently working on an Android app for Maximo. When the user completes a workorder, I would like the app to retrieve a report (wocomp.rptdesign) from Maximo, ideally in PDF format. My thoughts are that this would need to be done in one of two ways, either through the integration framework or by access the BIRT report server externally and passing the data into the report. Any ideas how this might be accomplished?
