Installation problem

Hello, 
 
I am getting this error.(There is no report design object available.) 
I have done following steps. 
I have downloaded the birt-runtime-3_7_1 and mysql-connector-java-5.1.18-bin and apache-tomcat-7.0.22-windows-x86. 
 
Unzip all the zip file into the C drive. 
 
After unzipping I opened the startup.bat file inside C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.22\bin folder and I set this line "SET JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_01. 
 
After setting the path I opened the catalina.bat file inside C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.22\bin directory. And add the MaxPermSize setting to the to the JAVA_OPTS environment variable:set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -XX:MaxPermSize=256m. 
 
 
 
 
 
After unzipping the birt-runtime-3_7_1 directory copy the Web Viewer Example directory to the webapps directory of our Tomcat installation. For ease of reference, rename the directory to "birt-viewer". 
 
I changed in C:\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\conf\tomcat-users.xml

<user username="tomcat" password="s3cret" roles="manager"/> 
 
I tested appache connection it works fine and test reports is also fine. 
 
but when i build some reports/charts through eclipse indigo and i pointed path to "http://BIRT SERVER IP:8080/birt-viewer/frameset?__report=C:/BIRT/test/test1.rptdesign&sample=my+parameter" location 
it does not works fine it gave error

Are you deploying your reports to your app server as well? If you put your reports in your deployment where the test.rptdesign file is (in the main folder), you'll be able to use the same URL that running the test report gave you, only replace the report name with your own report. The URL parameter, "report", calls a report with a relative path to the root birt-viewer folder. Hope this helps.

I am new to birt and how to set relative path in reports and when copied my deisgn to birt viewer folder it gave reports but data base connection is not happening.

BUT let me explain you the scenario. 
 
We changed the path in web-viewer-example/web-inf/web.xml as you suggested that error got resolved. 
 
I got new error as shown in image attached. 
 
I am attaching my .rpt design file please let me know if you can run this on birt indigo. 
 
I have added mysql-connector-java-5.1.18-bin file to 
 
C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.22\webapps\Birt-Viewer\WEB-INF\lib and 
 
C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.22\lib and 
 
C:\birt-runtime-3_7_1\WebViewerExample\WEB-INF\lib and 
 
C:\birt-runtime-3_7_1\ReportEngine\lib 
 
 
Please let me know where i have to add my mysql connector jar files. 
 
Please provide me a solution.

did you add oracle jdbc driver to your WebViewerExample\WEB-INF\platform\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc_2.1.1.v20070205-1728\drivers folder

if not then you have to add sqljdbc4.jar and oraclethin.jar

i dont think so there is not plugin folder inside your web viewer example directory.

But in birt indigo we donot have plugin folders thats why i put all my jar files to web-inf/lib folders.

you are following the wrong path, jus go inside your webapps\WebViewerExample not in webapps\birt-viewer

if platform folder is not there,then i dont know whats the exact issue is.

but if you run your birt reports inside tomcat its necessary to add appropriate jar file for appropriate database inside your apache-tomcat-7.0.22\webapps\WebViewerExample\WEB-INF\platform\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc_2.1.1.v20070205-1728\drivers folder.

Hello Piwya,

I renamed that web-viewer-example folder to birt-viewer folder as explained in birt website.

And i am using birt engine 3.7 for birt indigo which doesn't have any platform folder in it.

So please provide solution.
