socket error

We're running OD 5.5.1 in a Window environment with 2 receivers. I just installed the receiver on a new test box and am getting the following error during deployments:

ERROR - Job ID=m1Deployment=web1testa Base: failed creating socket, got null.

Everything seems to be set properly and running. Any ideas what the problem would be?

Are you using vanilla 5.5.1, or SP1, or SP2?

Is the new receiver being connected to through a firewall?
Are you using IP addresses or domain names to identify the Base Server and/or Receiver?

Could be several things, but essentially the base and targets are not talking to each other. make sure the od service is running on the targets and make sure they have perms to recieve files from the base and to the dirs the base is trying to deploy to via the node and recieve xml files. Also sometimes a reset doesn't quite do so you may have to stop and start the service on the target machines and try again. Make sure your firewall is allowing port 20014 or whatever your using od to get through and back.

Thanks all. Once I rebooted both servers I got an error in the nodes file. Fixing that resolved the socket error.
