populating date in Readonly field

Guys,

I need to display the system date in my DCT. The approach previously followed was to call an Inline function within the Text field. This works perfectly fine... but I need the Item to be read-only.

Can anyone suggest means to capture system date in my DCT and display the date as read-only to the user..
