How to automatically generate drill through hyperlinks based on query result
aesfandi
I have a query returning large amount of rows/columns data displayed in a table (master
report). I need to make each element of this master report hyper-linked based on the information contained in that element. For example for a 4 by 5 table, I need to have 20 unique hyper-linked elements generated on the fly using row and column names (dates and product-names, as example, passed as parameters) of each element. Clicking on an element would then open a new detail report based on these parameters. (The name of the detail report should also be constructed on the fly using these parameters.)
Since actual master report can contain tens of columns and thousands or rows, and varying, it is not practical to use the Hyperlink option in the properties tab to manually generate an individual drill-through for each column.
Is this possible and how?

So, you want every possible element to be hyperlinked, but you don't want to have to add hyperlink functionality in the property editor for each column? Is this correct? You might be able to add hyperlinks in the table script dynamically. Another possibility could be to build your table dynamically from scratch in script, if you know what the columns for each table will be. Another could be to access your data with a scripted dataSet and create a HTML link string for each and use HTML type text boxes in your table, rather than data elements to display your HTML links. Hope this helps.

Yes that is what I need - thanks for the reply and hints. I know the column names and rows are
dates. Each field is rendered in a different color based on a number that represents the value
of the field. For, let's say, col-x and row-y field, I need to have an automatically generated
hyperlink that points to a dynamically generated detail report such as col-x_row-y.rptdesign (col-x
and row-y info are used to generate a new query and display the detail results). I guess what I need
to know is:
1. How to pass and use field information to automatically generate a hyperlink.
2. How to access the same field info used in the hyperlink for generating a detail report
(build the detail table dynamically from scratch?).
3. Can and how these info be passed to a URL to create and open a html page (instead of 2).
Could you provide or point me to an example of your suggested solutions, if possible? Thank you.
