sorting a replicant by some value

I have a list of replicants from a dcr and I was wondering if there's some way I can sort the output.. I know it probably involves perl on some level.. the sort function.. I have 4 values per replicant "first_name" "last_name" "date" (MM/DD/YYYY) and "title". 

does anyone have some simple <iw_perl> they're willing to post that will let me do this to my replicant? thanks to anyone if they feel like helping. Smiley Happy

If you're comfortable with Perl in general - just create a hash of the values in your replicants and then sort on whichever key you want when doing the output.

I'd suggest looking at some standard Perl references for help on hashes and sorting hashes - the basic code stays the same, the source of data you load into the hash, and the means of printing it out after being sorted is all that changes.

I've never done a sort on a replicant in a tpl, so I don't have any specific code to post, but the code below (untested) should help you out. Obviously you only use one of the sort routines at a time in the sort sub.

Fantastic, works like a charm for all sort types.. even added a radio button and made sort type conditional on that, so users can pick how they want to sort. Had one problem with this part of the code though:

my ($aM,$aD,$aY) = split('/',(iwpt_dcr_value('a.date'));
my ($bM,$bD,$bY) = split('/',(iwpt_dcr_value('b.date'));

but it worked when I created a separate scalars and put them in the split function instead... so above code changed to:

$a_date = iwpt_dcr_value('a.date');
$b_date = iwpt_dcr_value('b.date');
my ($aM,$aD,$aY) = split('/',$a_date);
my ($bM,$bD,$bY) = split('/',$b_date);

ah, just noticed, there's a missing ')' in the statements you had problems with, should be:
