Jars required for BIRT
Tuco
Hi,
I am using BIRT for report generation. Right now, the Jars needed by BIRT were copied from /{BIRT_RUNTIME_HOME}/ReportEngine/lib to the tomcat so that they are part of the classpath and appropriate report is generated.
However, it has been suggested that the application WAR file should be self contained and should contain all the jars that it needs for report generation. I am using BIRT runtime 3.7 and there seem to be 78 jar files with a total size of 35 MB. I don't want to include all the Jars in the war because it will be very much inflated.
All the reports use the scripted datasource with a Java datasource.
So, I am thinking if i could eliminate some jars(like some related to the databases).
Is there some other documentation which could tell which jars are for which purpose so i could probably pick and remove some of them, or i plan to remove some at random and making sure that the reports work.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you
Tuco

Tuco,
It really depends on what features your reports are using, to which jars you need. If you're not using certain emitters, you wouldn't need those plugins. If you're not using charts, you wouldn't need the charting plugins. If you're not using JDBC connections, you won't need those. Etc. The jars included in the runtime are all the jars needed to run every feature, so you could limit the size by eliminating many of the obvious ones you won't use.
