Hide Crosstab measure but still show grand total

Hello, I'm trying to hide the measures in a crosstab report, and show only the grand totals, either always or programmatically based on a formula. I see it mentioned in http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/notable2.5.php#jump_11 that this is a new feature as of 2.5, i'm running the 2.6.3 runtime, and the lastest 3.7.x RCP designer, I've also tried with the eclipse plugin, but as soon as I hide the measure, its removing the grand total from my crosstab as well. Here's a copy of my report so far.

You have to just select the element in the crosstab and just "hide" it in the visibility section of the property editor. If you remove it from the crosstab, it will remove the grand total every time.

You can hide the crosstab entirely by using this code.

paste this code snippet at Corsstab's OnCreateCrosstab section

function onCreateCrosstab( crosstabInst, reportContext )
{
if( reportContext.evaluate("dimension['EmpGroup']['NAME']") == null)
{
crosstabInst.getStyle().display="None";
}
}

At the place of "dimension['Emp NameGroup']['VAR_FIRSTNAME']" give a column binding data and change the quotes as shown above.
This will hide the crosstab
