problem with date formatting

Hi 
 
I've a problem with date formatting. 
 
In the "edit parameter" I've set the parameter as a date and I have formatted it as "short date" (see edit_parameter.tiff) 
 
In the "enter parameter" the date isn't formatted like in the panel of edit (see enter_parameter.tiff) 
 
I have tried with all the type of date format but ... the result is the same.

Is the "DATA_ACCESSO" column in your data set "data" of type date?

Thank you for your attention.

The column in dataset is setted as "date" type.

I have tried to set also "date time" but ... nothing

the column comes from a oracle DB with data type "timestamp" that i have cut with trunc function.

I have therefore this situation:

dataset = select trunc(date_oracle) from xxxx (with date_oracle = "timestamp")

data_accesso = output column from dataset = "date" or "date time"

Can you try this:
- enter a default value in the Edit parameter dialog
- run the report
- remove the default value in the Edit parameter dialog

Does it work now?

I tried to insert a default value also taking it in automatic from list of values, but if I run the report, the default value is ignored (see attach).

What do you mean by ignored?
The date is the same, isn't it? It's only formatted in a different way.

But what exactly is it that is not working in your report?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. In my previous post I used as default value the first value of the list.
The list is sorted in ascending mode and then the first value was equal to that of default ^_^

I attached a different example.

I tried again with a different date (see edit_2).

the strange thing is that if I run the report in preview mode, the "enter parameter" panel doesn't indicate the default value (see run_2). If I run the report as PDF report the "enter parameter" panel correctly displays the default value (see run_pdf).

However, in both cases, the dates are not formatted as i set in the edit panel (short date dd/MM/yy e.g. 31/01/12) and this is my problem.

The "format as" part of the parameter dialog doesn't seem to do much. 
I put this piece of code in the "Select display text" part of the dialog: 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>df = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MM-yy");
strmyparm = df.format(dataSetRow["DATA_ACCESSO"]);</pre>
 
Does that work for you? 
 
I'm not a native English speaker either, so I never noticed any bad English in your posts. 
And I bet your Italian is way better then that of most forum users :-)

Means that I'll keep the date with this format -_-
