Issue with the Data Binding
lakshmikanth
Hi,
I am using birt-rcp-report-designer-2_2_0 version.
We have a function in the DB (Oracle 11g) - The Function is depedent on Type and a Package.
While executing the DB query(the same is used in the BIRT Report too) in the Oracle able to retrieve the records as expected.
In BIRT during the Dataset cofiguration the bindings are happening as expected
once we click on the OK button the Dataset is configured with all the columns.
When we right click on the Dataset created and clicked on Refresh, few of the columns are getting deleted after the refresh happen, so the databinding for the coulmns in the report not able to bind.
Please find the attachment for the same
Please suggest on the same any solution. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Can you try downloading a newer version to see if the same happens there? I'm assuming you cannot reproduce this with the sample database. Also, what is the reason for clicking the "refresh" button?

Downloading a new version it is not possible.<br />
<br />
Yes, you are correct we cannot reproduce it with the sample DB. When we depoly in the server (IBM WAS 6.0) we are able to get few of the records then getting an error. PFA for the same. We have a auto increment field the values are not getting populated<br />
<br />
Reason for clicking the "refresh" button:<br />
In the Edit Data Set window --> While going to the "Preview Results" then getting an error as below:<br />
<br />
Error Code:data.engine.ColumnBindingReferToInexistColumn<br />
Error Message:Column binding "****" has referred to a data set column "****" which is not exist.<br />
Then i tried refreshing the data set, then the columns are getting deleted.<br />

Thanks,<br />

I wanted you to download the newest version, just to try it, since the issue can't be reproduced for me. It wasn't for you to upgrade, just to check to see if the issue was resolved in newer versions. It sounds like a bug, but filing a bug report won't do any good if the issue is resolved in newer versions.

. To use it involves a huge process to follow and get the approvals which will take couple of days.<br />
Need to search for an alternative in the same version i am using.

Ah, I see. My guess is that it was a bug from your version. I would hope that it's fixed in the newest version, but I cannot test it. You might search the bugs at
http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/reportabug.php
and see if you can find a bug report for the issue. If you do, they might have a workaround listed. If you find anything, please post it in here. I'll do the same!
Good luck!
